Monday, May 26th: Music helps me work faster, but I don’t know why I don’t always want it on.
Tuesday, May 27th: My chef collects 'googly eyed shell art.' He asked me to bring some back for him if I happen to find any in Europe. He said he’d reimburse me, but I didn’t know how to tell him I’d never seen any googly eyed art in all my trips to Europe. He also sent me off with the most genuine, "I'm green with envy."
Wednesday, May 28th: Powdered sugar is sugar and cornstarch blended together. Who knew!?
Thursday, May 29th: Get yourself the kind of chef who asks who’s going to take care of your starter while you’re on vacation. “So, who’s taking care of Donna while you’re gone?” The handmade ceramic sourdough crock he got for me has a name and year inscribed in the bottom, Donna Evans 1965. So, my starter’s name is now Donna. I asked him what to do with it, then told him my roommate could feed her. He shook his head, “No. no. Just put it in the fridge, it will be fine for 2 weeks.” “You think she’s gonna kill Donna?” I responded. He smiled and nodded.
Friday, May 30th: anndddd commence 2 weeks in Europe!
